Scarlet Page Resonators Prints

Friend of Ramble on Radio Scarlet Page, who appeared on Ramble on Radio Episode #102 last July, is making limited edition high quality black and white prints of images from her book Resonators. The prints feature guitar players such as Jack White, Jeff Beck, Chrissie Hynde, Joe Walsh, John Frusciante and two of Page's father, Jimmy Page.

Tight But Loose Book Sale

Author, and good friend of Ramble On Radio, Dave Lewis is offering a book bundle sale. Lewis is offering his two fabulous books, Led Zeppelin Then as it Was - At Knebworth 1979 and Led Zeppelin Feather in the Wind - Over Europe 1980 for £18. Lewis, the author of the Led Zeppelin magazine Tight But Loose, will sign all books sold on this limited offer.

Then as it Was - At Knebworth 1979 (right) details Led Zeppelin in the late 70's, from the end of the 1977 tour until the penultimate Zeppelin shows, two weekends at Knebworth Castle in Stevenhxenge England in August 1979.

Led Zeppelin Feather in the Wind - Over Europe 1980 highlights the band's underreported summer of 1980 tour of Northern Europe. Lewis attended many of the shows and Feather in the Wind features a number of never seen before pictures taken by Lewis.

I reviewed both books in the inaugural Ramble on Radio podcast back in August 2011. Lewis has also appeared on Ramble on Radio twice over three episodes: in April 2014 Lewis appeared on episode 56, and last July Lewis appeared over two episodes, Ramble on Radio 100 and 101.

Robert Plant at SXSW

Robert Plant turned up at the Austin Music Awards Thursday night, performing The Coasters Youngblood, the Jive 4 song When I was Single and Clyde McPhatter's Let the Boogie Woogie Roll. Plant was fronting a band that featured Charlie Sexton and Jimmie Vaughan.

"Rubber" Plant Rockin' the Funeral

Robert Plant madde a cameo appearance this week on Stella, a UK TV show about, well, I haven't a clue what it's about. However, in this episode, former Led Zeppelin roadie "Daddy" is being laid to rest, and Plant makes a surprise (to the guests at the funeral) appearance.

Robert Plant Announces Southern US Tour, Hints at New Album

"Having just begun work on our new album..."

Robert Plant today released a statement confirming the continuation of The Sensational Space Shifters, announcing both that the band was working on a new album, and would be touring in 2016:

Having just begun work on our new album, we thought we’d take time out to raise a little sand and welcome springtime with one more adventure, another celebration of life and song.

Plant will tour the Southern United States, "Towns and cities that hold fond memories for me personally, places that gave birth to so much of the music I love,” in March beginning at the Okeechobee Festival in Okeechobee, Florida.

Myles Kennedy: "’...Im standing in a room and putting my melodies and lyrics to it..."

Friend of Ramble on Radio,  Steve - the Lemon - Sauer, got a chance to interview Myles Kennedy six years ago, Dec 16, 2009. Today, Sauer released the interview, and a transcript of his conversation with Kennedy about laying with Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and Jason Bonham in 2008.

Here's one question and answer. It's absolutely worth reading the whole thing.

SS: I was just reading that they were definitely working on some new music. Were you involved with any of the songwriting there?

MK: That was -- that was, um -- yeah. There were two -- a couple songs that I remember. For me, that was the biggest thrill because these were songs and pieces of music that no one had heard, and I’m standing in a room and putting my melodies and lyrics to it, and it was -- for me as an artist, I don’t think anything will ever quite compare to the feeling that I got from those moments. It felt like you were kind of a part of history for a few minutes there, you know? You’re, you’re -- it was just amazing. It’s hard to even put into words, Steve. It really is.

The audio is half an hour, and primarily covers the Alter Bridge live DVD, but Sauer, whose blog, Lemon Squeezing: Led Zeppelin News, was at the time one of the biggest Led Zeppelin blogs on the internet couldn't resist asking about the Led Zeppelin connection.
